Action of the private sector in the national context in the face of sustainability challenges, analyzing priority issues and areas of opportunity. Companies are a determining actor in the transition towards more sustainable development and positively impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “Companies are obliged to be clear about the role we have in a society like ours, that is: define a purpose, integrate it in all our activities, deepen it with our interest groups and work in collaboration to contribute to the goals of the SDG. This report measures the concrete advances regarding the 2030 Agenda of the private initiative,” said Martha Herrera, President of the Board of Directors of the Global Compact Mexico and Global Director of Social Impact at CEMEX, when opening the panel this Tuesday.
For the Mexico Global Compact, the 2030 Agenda must be the guide that sets the pace of economic recovery, including a gender perspective and MSMEs in the so-called Decade of Action. Germán Granda, General Director of Forética and Member of the State CSR Council of Spain, presented the main findings of the study and concluded that “Mexico's Anhui Mobile Number List commitment is encouraging”, g results: 1. High participation of SMEs: the work of large companies in their value chain to positively impact the goals of the 2030 Agenda. 2. Companies are prioritizing goals focused on people: SDG 3: health and well-being, SDG 4: quality education, and SDG 8: decent work and economic growth. 3. There are cross-cutting efforts among companies to strengthen gender equality, but progress is still gradual.
In the objectives related to the environment there is a great opportunity, especially in medium and small companies, for it to be part of their strategy; Large companies have a greater commitment and investments in SDG 13 of Climate Action. 5. It is necessary to raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda among public opinion, who are practically unaware of the SDGs. The report shows that this knowledge remains at the top. Despite this, 70% of companies affirm that their strategies include, at least partially, compliance with the SDGs in their Mission, Vision and Values. Main recommendations that emerge from the report: · Position climate change as a priority for all companies, regardless of size.
